Summer Institute Production I, Ages 8-18: Matilda The Musical, JR. (6540)

Six public performances. Previous experience is required.
Step into the magical world of Roald Dahl’s MATILDA THE MUSICAL, JR., where imagination, bravery, and a little bit of mischief can change everything! This high-energy musical tells the story of Matilda, a brilliant young girl with a vivid imagination and extraordinary courage. When she faces the mean-spirited headmistress Miss Trunchbull, Matilda and her classmates discover that even the smallest voices can stand up for what’s right.
Filled with unforgettable songs, big dance numbers, and hilarious characters, this show is a fantastic opportunity for young performers to triumph on stage. If you love acting, singing, and being part of an inspiring story, come join the revolt, in the magic of MATILDA THE MUSICAL, JR.!
Summer Institutes are intensive, all-inclusive theatrical training grounds for experienced musical theatre performers resulting in six public performances. They provide exciting opportunities for committed students to be a part of a full-scale production. A demanding two-week process from beginning to end, a SLT Summer Institute may best be described as “summer stock” for youth!

Summer Institute Technical Theatre Camp I, Ages 12 - 18: Matilda The Musical, JR. (6590)

Technical Theatre Camp offers an incredible opportunity for students 12 and up to gain training, insight, respect for, and hands-on experience in technical theatre from Springfield Little Theatre’s own Scenic, Lighting, Sound, and Costume Designers, and the Summer Youth Programs support staff. Students enrolled in Technical Theatre Camp will not only gain a valuable skill set, but they will also help to create the sets, costumes, and props, as well as serve as the technical crew for the Summer Institute Production of MATILDA THE MUSICAL, JR.!

Grab your poodle skirts and slick your hair—it’s time to bop, twist, and rock through the 1950s! Join us for an SLT sock hop!
Even our youngest performers get to rock it on the Landers Stage this summer! Designed specifically for ages 4- 7, this exciting program runs from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM daily and offers a fun, engaging introduction to musical theatre. Participants will explore acting, singing, and dancing in a nurturing and enthusiastic environment, all while preparing a pre-show performance for BYE BY BIRDIE: YOUTH EDITION!
With two public performances, they'll get to share their hard work with family, friends, and theatre lovers alike on the Landers stage, then enjoy watching the Summer Institute production of BYE BY BIRDIE: YOUTH EDITION!

Be a part of a fun musical theatre production from start to finish in The Reynolds Auditorium at The Judith Enyeart Reynolds School of the Performing Arts for Springfield Little Theatre! All experience levels welcome.
This SLT Summer experience concludes with 6 public performances of JUNIE B.'s ESSENTIAL SURVIVAL GUIDE TO SCHOOL, JR., a fun, family-friendly musical based on the popular Junie B. Jones books.
The story follows first-grader Junie B. Jones, who decides she’s the perfect person to write the ultimate guide to surviving school. As she gathers advice about everything from backpacks and classroom rules to friendships and playground drama, Junie B. struggles with writer’s block and keeps getting into trouble along the way. With help from her classmates and teacher, she learns that making mistakes is part of growing up—and that school (and life) always has more lessons to teach.
The show features upbeat songs, lots of humor, and heartwarming messages about friendship, responsibility, and learning from your mistakes

Step into a colorful world of glitter, harmony, and heart this summer with SLT’s Summer Stages Workshop Session V, inspired by the joy and high-energy fun of Trolls! Young performers will discover their skills through acting games, improvisation, scene work, and musical theatre song & dance—all while building the confidence to shine bright onstage and off.
Campers who love visual art will also enjoy creating Trolls-themed crafts bursting with color and creativity.
On the final day of the workshop, families and friends are invited to a free informal showcase featuring our sparkling stars.
Join us for a week of friendship, fun, and feel-good performances—because at Summer Stages, all that glitters is truly in you!
